Architecture Collective Stuttgart
Wir sind in der Ausstellung RÄUMLICHKEITEN im KUNSTWERK, Sammlung Klein vertreten. Die Hängung #18 macht die Wahrnehmung von Raum zum Inhalt und knüpft Verbindungen zur Architektur im Allgemeinen. Wir werden dort mit einem modularen System experimentieren und während der Ausstellungslaufzeit unterschiedliche plastisch-räumliche Konstellationen vorstellen.

Im Oktober finden wieder die diesjährigen Hallo Festspiele statt. Wir sind wie jedes Jahr am Start und haben die Schaltzentrale des Festivals gestaltet. Gemeinsam mit den Stararchitekten sind wir noch tiefer in die unergründete Welt der silbernen C-Profile eingestiegen!
Schuppenschmiede für die Emschergroppe. Am 23. Oktober fällt der Startschuss für den Bau der Plastik aus Plastik im Grugabad Essen. In Zusammenarbeit mit umschichten gestaltet die Grüne Hauptstadt eine überdimensionale Emschergroppe aus Plastiktüten, um ein Bewusstsein dafür zu schaffen, welche Auswirkungen der hohe Verbrauch von Einwegplastiktüten für die Umwelt hat. Alle Essenerinnen und Essener sind aufgerufen, sich am Bau der Skulptur zu beteiligen
In dem kuratorischen Praxisprojekt Curating the City – Kuratorische Praxis im Anschluss an die Blaue Blume entwickeln Studierende der Zeppelin Universität unter unserer Anleitung Konzepte für ein Realisierungsprojekt im Kontext des neu entstehenden Fallenbrunnen-Quartiers und dem Wohn- und Kulturprojekt Blaue Blume.

Der Kulturverein Zehntscheuer e.V. zeigt in seiner großen Sommerausstellung Künstler der Wagenhalle – Gruppenausstellung in Rottenburg die Arbeiten von nahezu 70 Künstlern aus diesem urbanen Kreativbiotop und bietet so einen guten Überblick über die Bandbreite ihres Schaffens.
Als am 14. Juli 2017 eine eigenartige „Kathedrale“ den „Marktplatz“ der Stuttgarter Containercity „bekrönte“, war sie das Ergebnis eines freudigen, aber gut geregelten Spiels . Denn es galten Umschichten-Prinzipien wie: Gebaut wird mit allem was da ist und wie alle, die Mitmachen, es auch wirklich wollen. Aber es darf nur so gebaut werden, dass alle Materialien jederzeit und unbeschädigt dahin zurückgeführt werden können, wo sie gefunden oder ausgeborgt worden sind.

After weeks of hard work we finished our new studio right in front of the wagenhalle. We reused the material of the former office and built it on top of the high rack storage system where our containers are parked in-between. The former accessible storage system became structural design and the glazed facade lets the sunlight in.
We finally can release the cat out of the microwave. Here is our new book of cats and microwaves we did together with Bellastock Associated. „…Dieses Buch ist ein Aufruf, sich an der Gestaltung der eigenen Lebenswelt zu beteiligen und vor allem sich selbst zu wandeln: vom passiven Konsumenten zu einem aktiven Koproduzenten von Stadt“.
We are invited to be part of an exhibition of young architects and their work at wechselraum in Stuttgart. Vernissage will be on Monday 24th of October at 7 pm.
With our precycling-concept we got the 1st Prize at the Marianne Brandt International Contest in the category experimental design.
Disziplinäre Grenzgänge. Neue Arbeitsfelder in Stadtgestaltung und Stadtforschung – ein Perspektivenwechsel is the topic of this Symposium of the HafenCity University Hamburg at the Kraftwerk Bille. We are invited to talk about the border-crossing of our discipline.
Together with urban catalyst studio we will do a kick-off event this saturday within the scope of a public participation procedure in Cologne, Chorweiler. We will try to figure out what needs and wishes the citizens and participants have for the redesign of three public spaces in their neighborhood.
In the course of the Große Pläne – exhibition series, where we participated in Dessau we are invited to a symposium with Torsten Blume from Stiftung Bauhaus Dessau to talk about the longing for profound design principles and universal design laws. We are happy to invite you to the opening of the exhibition Große Pläne, moderne Typen, Fantasten und Erfinder at the Stiftung Bauhaus Dessau. We spend the last four weeks developing an experimental exhibition design by only using local and precycled material.
Bellastock Associated visited us this weekend to work on our joint publication which will be published later this year.
Tonight is the premiere of House of Hope, a play from the Theatergroup Posttheater, which deals with the issue if there could be a house of hope in times of rent increase and isolation. umschichten contributed architectural drawings, expert knowledge and visualizations.
The Mousonturm Frankfurt appears in new splendor. For the Tanzplattform Deutschland 2016 umschichten build the festival center creating a foyer / workshop situation with recreational zones and lounges.
The Reallabor Spacesharing will soon open the gates of their domicile at the Calwer-Passagen-Kopfbau in Stuttgart to the users. Umschichten provided an installation for an unique interior design.

Umschichten participated and build a temporary kitchen for the conference Global Neighbourhood – a research project and inter-neighborhood exchange to connect art institutes in the district, in cooperation with Israeli Center for Digital Art, Holon (IL) and further institutions of the Nordbahnhof district, Stuttgart.
Umschichten participates at the urban planning workshop of the Kunstverein Wagenhalle, discussing the future of the site Wagenhallen in the district with external experts.
Umschichten is invited to take part at the Symposium wild sites at the Weißenhofgalerie in Stuttgart. Actors of wild sites from Stuttgart and Rotterdam will present their work, their wild sites and their ideas for metropolitan cities. For the Conference of the Deutsch-Israelisches-Zukunftsforum (DIZF) at Arab-Jewish Community Center (AJCC) in Tel Aviv-Jaffa umschichten is building furniture for a community kitchen. The material is transformed from a former exhibition design of Digital Art Lab (DAL) in Holon, Tel Aviv-Jaffa.
Umschichten transformed the Archivraum of the Sophiensaele in Berlin into a temporary laboratory for international Choreographers and Performers in the scope of the Julius-Hans-Spiegelzentrum Berlin.

For the Tanz in Bern Festival at Dampfzentrale Bern, umschichten developed an installation in several meters height. Using a high-rack storage system and different items which have been found in the storage on site, visitors are now able to climb the bars and experience the foyer from a whole new perspective.

Umschichten won the competition for the exhibition design of the exhibition Große Pläne, moderne Typen, Fantasten und Erfinder at the Stiftung Bauhaus Dessau. The exhibition will open on May 3rd 2016 and can be visited until January 2017.
We will have a Tutti Frutti lecture within the framework of Reallabor Spacesharing at our Container-Campus.
Installation for the 10th anniversary of Niessnerdesign Stuttgart
Stadtoasen Göppingen were created during a building-workshop umschichten performed with pupils of the local Gymnasium. By only using Doka Beams and straps the pupils build a seating landscape in the city center of Göppingen, which provides an attractive seating area for one week of festivities.
Through the time of the Tour de Nord four artists of the Wagenhalle exchange with four institutions (Rosensteinschule, Jugendhaus Nord…) of the districts doing special workshops. The mobile containers of umschichten with different equipment were sent to travel the neighborhood making the Tour de Nord visible for everyone. With a street festival and exhibitions in the center of the Nordbahnhof district, the neighborhood comes together and has the chance to get to know each other and the institutions in their district.
Die Städtische Galerie in Offenburg päsentiert ab morgen ihre neue Ausstellung „Lose Bande – 38 Positionen aus der Wagenhalle Stuttgart“. Zu sehen sind eine Fülle von Werken, die in einem bestimmten räumlichen Kontext entstanden sind. Gemeint ist die Wagenhalle beim Nordbahnhof in Stuttgart mit ihrer ganz eigenen Atmosphäre. […] Alle, die dort tätig sind, waren eingeladen, in dieser Ausstellung Einblick in ihr Schaffen zu geben. Die Vernissage der Ausstellung ist heute um 19 Uhr.
